Adoptable Dogs
Occationally I get calls to take in unwanted, stray or homeless dogs. Most of my rescue dogs come from the Central City Vet
Clinic. The Clinic serves as the city's shelter as well as the Vet Clinic. They keep the homeless dogs for 2 weeks and at the
end of that time, if they haven't found a home, they are unfortunately euthanized. When I have room, I will take in a dog that
has come to the end of it's two weeks. If I do decide to take a dog in, it is with the intention of rehoming it. Each rescued dog
will go to its new home UTD on it's shots, de-wormed and it will be vet checked including a heartworm test. It will come with
all the appropriate paperwork including an adoption contract, a health record showing when and what vaccines were given,
when it was de-wormed and when it was vet checked. The new owner also has the option to have me microchip the dog for
$20 before it goes to its new home. Some may be spayed or neutered before going to their new home and their adoption fee
will reflect that.

I do ask for an adoption fee for each dog. The fee is to cover any costs I have while getting the dog ready for its new home. I
should say that I do NOT make money from my rescues. And my goal is not to make money. In fact, most the time I end up
spending plenty of my own money to find the dog a new home. I just feel very strongly that there are so many awesome dogs
that are put to sleep every day and I want to do my part to help the ones I can. They deserve good homes as much as any
other dog.

When each dog first comes here it gets a bath, gets its ears cleaned and its nails clipped. This serves several purposes. It not
only gets the dog cleaned up, it also helps to tell me a lot about the dogs personality. I also work with each rescue by walking
it on a leash, testing it for food aggression, subjecting it to many different noises and experiences and watching to see how it
responds to other animals and a variety of people. I try to be as honest as possible about each dogs personality and try to
match each one to the perfect family. Each dog that comes to Kennyacres is here until it finds its forever home. If any dog
shows signs of aggression toward a person for any reason they are not put up for adoption.

Hi Jen,

I thought I'd send some more photos of Willie. We had to put Charlie down a week ago, his hind end finally gave out and he had no feeling.
Willie has adapted well, being our only dog. He now comes in the house once and a while and is the joy of our lives. I took him in and had him
microchipped, the Vet loved him. I have been taking to our local PetSmart on Saturdays getting him used to people and other dogs, he loves it
and they love him. Everyone tells me how beautiful he is and well mannered he is. Of course they don't see him when he's going "mad cow"
running in the back yard. Victor has been off work on and off and the two of them have bonded and they play ruff together. He is such a
character and makes us laugh at his playfulness. I have to admit its so hard not to spoil him. He loves to stand or sit up high on the back of the
lounge chairs on the patio. He is such a joy. I can't tell you how much we appreciate everything you did to help us to acquire him. We both feel
it was meant to be.

This is Lola. She is an American Bulldog. She is appx 50lbs and is appx 6 to 8 months old. Lola came from the Central City Vet clinic and her time was
up, and I didn't have the heart to let her be euthanized. She is a very submissive, calm, friendly dog and has great manners. She walks very well on a
leash and I suspect she was a housedog. The one bad habit I have discovered is that she can jump my 4 ft fence. She will need to be in a 6 ft high
kennel or dog run or maybe someone with a privacy fence. She is very athletic and doesn't like to be away from people so she will jump the 4ft
fence to get to us. Otherwise, if we are in the fenced in yard with the dogs she will stay put. Lola came to me appx 5 weeks pregnant but then lost
the litter while still pregnant. She will come to you spayed, up to date on her shots including rabies, she will be dewormed, she will come with my
adoption contract and a health record.

Say Hi to Pip, now known as Felix. He is a 2yr old tri colored Beagle and is appx 25lbs. Felix was here as a rescue once before and unfortunately he
is available again for adoption. Due to no fault of his own, his new family can no longer keep him. They report that Felix did wonderful with their
family of 3 smaller children, is totally housebroke, knows basic commands such as "sit" "stay" "heel" "play dead" "lay down". He does like to dig (he
IS a beagle) and really does need a fenced in yard to run and play in. He will come with a health record, he is up to date on all shots including rabies,
he is dewormed, is microchipped, and best of all he is already neutered! He is ready to come home with you. Please consider giving Felix a new home
and a second chance.

Jasmine has found a new home with the Chumney family in NE. Thank you so much Amelia for
giving Jasmine a great new home.
Panchita very happy in her new home

Jasmine with her new friend, Angel
Jen,
She is doing great! Amelia did not like the way her voice sounded when she yelled "Jasmine" at the dog run, so she has shortened her name to "Jazzy". She tells me it is a
nickname like we call her Mia.
Otherwise, things could not be better. Jazzy and Angel (our lab) are best buddies - when we leave the house and tell Angel to "kennel up" Jazzy goes right into the kennel behind
her and they sleep and play. They play all day long whether they are in the kennel, outside, or loose in the house (Jazzy likes to take toys under the couch and tease Angel with
them because she is too big to fit under there), and then when Amelia comes home from school Jazzy focuses on her and Angel sticks close to Alex. She really has proven to be
the perfect fit for us. Thank you so much!
